"Best year EVER!" says Steve Huff. "We had some lofty goals and a `to do` list that seemed
impossible at times, but this team pulled it off. Last year was all about radiation and chemo, it was time to pull up my boots and get to work. My immunotherapy treatments are working `better than average` so it was time to put me to the test. We win together and we lose together... this year we did a lot of winning" added Huff.
The Faster Than Cancer Drag Racing Team started the year off at NHRA National events in Arizona and Florida (where Steve fractured his L3 vertebrae) followed by Holley High Voltage in Sonoma, CA where the team secured another quarter mile record at 202.82 mph. Our final appearance at the NHRA Northwest Nationals, Steve and the team amazed the hometown crowd and television audience with back-to-back-to-back-to-back 200mph passes, keeping our title as the World`s Fastest Electric Dragster.
Not to be outdone, The Faster Than Cancer APBA Hydroplane Team started out the 2022 H1 national schedule in Guntersville, AL, Madison, IN, and finishing in San Diego, CA along with multiple regional races in Washington State. Coming off a record-breaking end of the 2021 season, Steve and the hydroplane racing team picked up where they left off and collected numerous wins and podiums. "We wanted to race against the best our sport had to offer and for that we had to travel. Getting to be a part of GPW and H1 events made those miles a lot of fun. We got to meet so many new friends and share so many stories. Finishing the season Winning the National Championship and having US#1 on the boat is a dream come true and I have to thank Wally Johnston. We couldn't have done it without you."
The racing did not end with the car and the boat, The Faster Than Cancer/Destination Harley-Davidson Super Hooligan flat track team made multiple appearances with Scotty Baker. The Destination H-D XG750 collected 4 wins and one 2nd. A special thanks to Ed Wallace Jr. for keeping this program on the track. The team ended the 2022 season in Huntington Beach at the Roland Sands Moto Beach Classic with Red Bull Straight Rhythm.
In-between the seemingly non-stop travel and race schedule Jill Andrews and Bardi Martin formed The Faster Than Cancer Foundation. A 501c3 non-profit with the goal of providing more school visits and a scholarship program for vocational and trade school education. The Faster Than Cancer Foundation Mission: To Inspire, Educate, and Support our Community highlighting LIVING with a Cancer Diagnosis and Scholarship for Vocational/Trades Education.
